Narragansett's Short-Term Rental Rules Suspended Amid Legal Dispute

Narragansett's short-term rental ordinance, aimed at regulating the rental market by requiring a minimum seven-night stay and banning certain events, is currently suspended amid legal challenges. The ordinance's implementation has been postponed following a lawsuit filed by Narragansett 2100, representing landlords and property managers. The group argues that the ordinance threatens local livelihoods by reducing rental options. The town council, concerned about housing affordability and preserving community balance, supports the ordinance. A court hearing on September 16 will decide the next steps.

Camp Hoffman Beach Reopens After Bacteria Levels Decline

Camp Hoffman Beach in South Kingstown is now safe for swimming again, according to the Rhode Island Department of Health. The beach was closed last Thursday after testing revealed high bacteria levels. RIDOH will continue regular monitoring to maintain water safety throughout the summer.
