NaCoast Guard Suspends Search for Missing Swimmer in South Kingstown

The U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search for a reportedly missing swimmer at East Matunuck Beach after finding no evidence to support the claim. The search, initiated by lifeguards and supported by various agencies, lasted from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Rough ocean conditions were noted, and the water was temporarily closed to the public during the search.

South Kingstown Little League Seniors Secure Third Consecutive Title

The South Kingstown Little League senior all-stars have clinched their third straight state title, a historic achievement for the program. The team, featuring a blend of new and experienced players, will now head to the regional tournament in Bangor, Maine. With hopes of advancing to the Senior Little League World Series, the team is prepared to build on past successes. Despite a strong challenge from Cranston East, South Kingstown secured their title with an 11-4 victory in the final game.

Your Opinion Matters: DEM Surveys Residents on Outdoor Recreation

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is conducting an online survey and hosting outreach events to gather public input on outdoor recreation opportunities. This feedback will help inform the Rhode Island Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) and prioritize funding for future projects over the next five years. The survey, available on the RI State Parks website, is open until September 30, and participants can enter a drawing to win a free 2025 RI State Beach Parking Pass. A local tabling event will be held at Scarborough North State Beach in Narragansett on Tuesday, August 6 Rain Date: August 27 11 AM – 1 PM.
