Narragansett Road Preservation Treatment Set for July 16-17
Narragansett has scheduled crack filling for Willet Road, Locust Court, Muratore Lane, Conanicus Road, Fairport Avenue, Crest Avenue, N. Hillview Drive, Starr Drive, and Mansion Avenue on July 16th and 17th, weather permitting. The process involves pouring liquid asphalt into cracks, topping with a sand/concrete mix, and sweeping up the excess once it has hardened. Residents are advised to avoid parking on these roads during the treatment days to ensure the project is completed on time.
Judge Rules RI Shoreline Access Law Unconstitutional Taking
A Rhode Island judge has issued a preliminary ruling in favor of David Welch, a beachfront homeowner, challenging the 2023 shoreline access law. The law grants public access to the shoreline up to 10 feet landward of the high tide line, but the judge agreed it constitutes an unconstitutional taking of private property. The ruling allows the case to proceed, with the state vowing to defend public shoreline access. A similar case from Westerly property owners will also proceed following a similar ruling.
