New Commercial Fishing Pier Opens in Port of Galilee
Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee announced the opening of a new commercial fishing pier in the Port of Galilee, highlighting its importance to the state’s fishing industry. The $46 million investment, supported by federal funds, restored the infrastructure that had not been updated for decades. The pier’s completion is expected to sustain and enhance local businesses and ensure the port remains a vital working waterfront. Rhode Island ranks fourth on the East Coast and 18th nationally in fishing value, with the industry contributing a billion dollars to the state’s economy.
