Narragansett Seeks New Route for William C. O’Neill Bike Path Extension to Beach
After nearly ten years of planning, Narragansett is exploring new routes to extend the William C. O'Neill Bike Path to the beach. A recent feasibility study by DiPrete Engineering did not present viable options, leading Town Council member Deb Kopech to propose a scenic route avoiding main roads and wetlands. The Town Council has requested a review of this new plan, with $3 million in federal funding available until 2027 to complete the project.
Avoid July 4th Beach Traffic: Buy Your Parking Pass Online Today
As the Fourth of July approaches, Rhode Island's DEM urges beachgoers to buy parking passes online to avoid entry delays. Prepaid passes linked to license plates allow quicker entry through express lanes. Season passes are available online and in person at the Scarborough North State Beach overflow lot. Daily parking fees are $6 for residents on weekdays and $7 on weekends and holidays, with various payment methods accepted. Beach capacity is monitored to ensure safety, and real-time updates are available online.
Celebrate Summer with Fresh, Local Foods
Make the most of summer by visiting your local farmers' markets for the freshest, locally-harvested foods. Enjoy the unbeatable taste of Rhode Island-grown tomatoes, corn, summer squash, lettuce, and blueberries, perfect for complementing a meal of locally-sourced meat or seafood. Shopping at a farmers' market is not only a nutritious choice but also a delightful way to celebrate the bounty of the summer harvest.
