Rose Hill Transfer Station Closed on June 19 for Juneteenth

The Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station will be closed today Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in observance of Juneteenth.
Please plan accordingly for your waste disposal needs. The station will resume its regular operations tomorrow.

South Kingstown Receives $350,000 for Wakefield Village Revitalization

Governor Dan McKee and Secretary of Commerce Liz Tanner have unveiled $4 million in new grants for enhancing Rhode Island's commercial districts. The funding, distributed through the Main Street RI Streetscape Improvement Fund and the Site Readiness Program, aims to support infrastructure improvements, technical assistance, and revitalization projects. Among the recipients is South Kingstown, which received $350,000 for the Wakefield Village Improvement Project 2024. These initiatives are designed to foster long-term economic growth and improve the attractiveness and safety of local business environments.

Declarations for Candidacy Due by June 26 in South Kingstown

The South Kingstown Board of Canvassers has set the filing period for declarations of candidacy for local offices and the General Assembly from June 24 to June 26, 2024, ending at 4:00 PM. Declaration papers can be collected at the Board of Canvassers office in Wakefield or accessed online at www.sos.ri.gov.
Candidates with questions can reach the Clerk's Office for more information at 401-789-9331 extension 1231.

Community Learning Center Public Input Session - June 22

The Peace Dale Library has received federal grant funds to renovate the currently unused second floor balcony area of the library to create a Community Learning Center. The Community Learning Center (CLC) will be a space to learn, work, and improve your health. On Saturday June 22nd from 10am-1pm the Library will be hosting a Community Input Session to learn about your thoughts and ideas for the CLC to ensure the programming in that area is a useful and well thought out addition to our community. Anyone who lives, works, or visits the South Kingstown area is encouraged to attend.
