Early Morning Black Bear Sighting in Wakefield Meadows

On Monday morning at around 7 a.m., a black bear was spotted in Wakefield Meadows, catching residents by surprise. This incident highlights the presence of wildlife in residential areas and the need for precautionary measures to ensure safe coexistence.

Three Injured in Narragansett Boat Collision

In Narragansett, a boating accident in the Port of Galilee left three individuals with minor injuries after their vessel collided with a break wall at Point Judith on Wednesday night.
The Coast Guard Station Point Judith, the Narragansett Fire Department, and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management responded promptly to the scene.
The Rhode Island DEM is investigating the incident as a potential Boating While Intoxicated (BWI) case. Authorities are urging boaters to prioritize safety by avoiding alcohol and ensuring they have necessary safety equipment, including life jackets and functioning navigation lights, as the warmer weather brings more people onto the water.

Narragansett Police Host "Coffee With A Cop" Event on June 20

The Narragansett Police Department will host its "Coffee With A Cop" event on June 20, providing an opportunity for community members to engage with local officers. Scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. at Fuel Coffee on Boston Neck Road, this informal gathering allows residents to discuss important community issues and build relationships with the police over coffee and snacks. The event aims to strengthen community ties and enhance mutual understanding between the police and the residents they serve.
