Corroded Extension Cord Causes Fire at TwoTen Oyster Bar

TwoTen Oyster Bar and Grill has been temporarily closed following a fire on June 4, which officials have determined was sparked by a corroded extension cord. The fire originated from the extension cord used to power coolers on the restaurant’s outdoor deck. Over time, exposure to salt air caused the cord and plugs to corrode, leading to resistance and ultimately the fire. Fortunately, no one was injured. The owner has announced that the restaurant will remain closed for several months while repairs are undertaken.

South Kingstown Land Trust Welcome Day

Today 4:30 PM visit the land trust’s Woodcock Campus at Weeden Farm and learn more about how we operate!

You’ll join a fun one-hour tour for members seeking to learn more about our organization. Led by SKLT board members, the tours will include information on the history and operations of SKLT, and visits to the Barn, Office & Welcome Center, and Tractor Shed.

Light refreshments will be served. Advance registration is required.
