Wood River Crafts

Tucked away in a charming corner of Wakefield, Rhode Island, exists Wood River Crafts, a one-stop shop for quality, custom-made cutting and charcuterie boards. Founded by a retired professional with a diverse background in engineering, land surveying, and land development, the business serves as a testament to the beauty and authenticity that stems from a lifelong passion for woodworking.

Wood River Crafts has been in operation for barely two years but it has left an indelible mark on patrons with its unique offerings. There’s something incredibly warm and inviting about a handcrafted, wooden piece, and Wood River Crafts has honed the art of creating distinctive items that are functional yet decorative. The owner divulges, “We take great pride in making quality handmade items and derive immense satisfaction in learning how much our customers enjoy our work.”

Staying true to its roots, the business supports local industries by sourcing all its materials from locally owned businesses. This commitment to community involvement not only strengthens relationships with other local businesses, but also fosters a symbiotic relationship that is beneficial to all parties involved.

Every piece handcrafted at Wood River Crafts is a unique blend of craftsmanship and quality. The classic designs and details are made only from handpicked, top quality local hardwoods, with an occasional infusion of exotic woods making each board a one-of-a-kind piece.

The future of Wood River Crafts? Continue creating. With each new product, the business moves forward in its journey of adding a touch of elegance to every home kitchen with a custom cutting or charcuterie board.

For those interested in owning or gifting a piece of unique handcrafted board, You can explore their custom pieces at www.WoodRiverCrafts.com, or give them a call at (401) 218-0774 to learn more.

Crews to Install Fiber Optics on Newport
Pell Bridge This Week

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is moving forward with Phase 2 of the Pell Bridge project. This phase includes the installation of fiber optic cables along the bridge by electrical crews. RIDOT has issued a caution that crews will be working on the shoulders of Route 138 through Thursday, June 13. Additionally, crews will be paving the new dead-end section of Jalsey Street, with work expected to be completed by Friday at 4 p.m.

Narragansett Approves Budget Amid Library Funding Dispute

In a contentious decision, the Narragansett Town Council has passed the 2024-2025 fiscal year budget with a 4-1 vote. A significant point of contention was the decision to level fund the town’s new library, rejecting a requested increase of $13,000. Local resident Mary Nadeau and Laurie Kelly, chair of the Narragansett Library Board of Trustees, voiced strong opposition, arguing that the reduction undermines previous commitments made to state authorities. Town Manager James Tierney defended the decision, stating that a detailed review justified maintaining the current funding level to assess the library's operations over a full year.
