South Kingstown Extends Façade Grant Application Deadline to July 19

The Town of South Kingstown has extended the deadline for applications to its new Façade Improvement Program. The program, part of the Town’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) economic initiative, aims to support the rehabilitation and redevelopment of commercial properties in Wakefield and Peace Dale. With $1,250,000 allocated for this grant, the initiative seeks to encourage new and expanding businesses, foster the revitalization of commercial corridors, and stimulate private investment in existing commercial structures.

Applicants must submit their completed grant application forms by the new deadline, July 19, 2024, at 4:00 PM. Additionally, applicants must provide a minimum match towards the total cost of their project. Applications are available online at https://www.southkingstownri.gov/1255/Facade-Improvement-Program

Medicare Fraud Prevention Week at South Kingstown Senior Center

The South Kingstown Senior Center is marking Medicare Fraud Prevention Week from June 3 through June 9. This event offers a valuable opportunity for seniors and their families to learn how to protect themselves from Medicare fraud.

Visit the Senior Center during this week to get essential tips and information on preventing fraud and safeguarding your Medicare benefits.

Public Forum on Affordable Housing

The Affordable Housing Collaborative Committee invites you to a public forum on affordable housing.
This event will take place on June 5th at 7 PM in the Town Hall Council Chambers.

Join the discussion and learn everything you need to know about affordable housing from local non-profit experts, including representatives from Habitat for Humanity and the Women's Development Corporation. This forum is an excellent opportunity to understand the current issues and efforts surrounding the development of affordable housing in our community.

Ocean State Improv Festival - June 5-9

The five-day Ocean State Improv Festival brings together artists and troupes to create an interconnected community that teaches, learns, inspires, and performs together on Rhode Island’s beautiful southern coast!

  • Nightly performances showcase the fantastic talents of performers from all over the world. 11 performances, including mixers, featuring 15-20 troupes total.

  •  A broad slate of workshops and multi-day intensives by top-flight teachers immerse you in new experiences, passions, and a worldwide network of inspiring collaborators.

  • “Mixer shows” (Theatresports, Micetro, Pirate, and the Duo Bracket Challenge) and workshop showcases let individual artists and members of troupes perform alongside new friends.

  • Connect with members of the world-wide improv community!
