Health Advisory: Mosquito Prevention Measures for Rhode Island Residents

The Rhode Island Department of Health advises residents to take measures against mosquito-borne diseases like West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis.
Recommended actions include using window and door screens, limiting outdoor activities at dawn and dusk, using bug spray with DEET, and eliminating standing water around the home.
These steps can help protect against mosquito bites and reduce the risk of illness.

Summer Health Alert: Watch for Harmful Algae Blooms in Local Waters

The Rhode Island Department of Health and DEM caution residents about harmful algae blooms in local waters this summer.
Currently, Little Beach at Slack Reservoir is affected.
Residents should avoid recreational activities in areas with visible algae blooms, which pose health risks.
Pets should not drink or swim in contaminated water.
If contact occurs, rinse off immediately and seek medical advice if symptoms develop.

Narragansett Police to Host Seminar on Internet Scam Prevention

The Narragansett Police Department is hosting a seminar on internet scams and fraud prevention on Thursday May 16 2 PM - 3 PM at Maury Loontjens Memorial Library.

This informative session will cover how to recognize different types of scams, what to do if you are targeted, and how to prevent future attempts. Attendees will also learn about local scam case studies and reporting procedures. Refreshments will be provided.

Get Tech Help at South Kingstown Library's Drop-In Session

The South Kingstown Library is providing an opportunity for residents to get in-person assistance with their electronic devices.
On May 16, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the Digital Services Librarian will be available to help with cell phones, tablets, computers, and more.
No appointment is necessary.
