Police Warn of Border Patrol and Computer Virus Scams Targeting Residents
The police are alerting residents to two recent scam attempts. In one, a caller posing as a U.S. Border Patrol agent instructed a woman to deposit $7,000 into a Bitcoin ATM.
In another, a woman was told her computer was infected with a virus and to deposit $50,000 into a Bitcoin ATM.
Residents are urged not to comply with such demands and to contact their local police or bank if they suspect fraud.
