Narragansett Council Passes Minimum Seven-Night Stay Rule for Short-Term Rentals

The Narragansett Town Council has enacted a new ordinance that sets a minimum seven-night stay for short-term rentals, effective from September 1.
This decision, which passed by a narrow vote, aims to regulate the growing short-term rental market while supporting local economic interests.
The ordinance restricts the number of rental permits and imposes strict penalties for non-compliance.
Despite some council members' concerns about stakeholder involvement and specific provisions, the ordinance is intended to preserve community integrity and housing affordability.

South Kingstown Town Beach Prepares for Summer with Major Clean-Up

The South Kingstown Parks Division is preparing Town Beach for the summer after winter storms caused significant erosion, exposing debris and old beach pilings.
The clean-up efforts throughout May will ensure the beach is ready for visitors by May 25th, when it opens on weekends, and then daily from June 15th.
The Parks and Recreation Department is working diligently on these restorations and appreciates the community's support during this period.
