Early Voting Ends Today for South Kingstown School Facilities Bond Referendum
South Kingstown will hold a special election on May 7, 2024, to vote on the School Facilities Bond Referendum, which seeks to fund significant upgrades to local educational infrastructure. Early voting will continue through May 6th at 4:00 PM, and voting districts have been combined for this election. Residents are encouraged to verify their polling locations and participate in shaping the future of the town’s schools.
South Kingstown Begins 2024 Statistical Property Revaluation
The Town of South Kingstown has contracted Vision Government Solutions to conduct a State-mandated Statistical Property Revaluation.
Effective December 31, 2024, the revaluation will impact the July 2025 tax bills.
Vision Government Solutions will verify property measurements and conduct brief interior inspections where needed.
Vision Government Solutions' team members will carry photo identification and a letter of introduction from the Assessor’s Office, in addition to having passed a national criminal background check conducted by the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office.
Property owners will receive notices of their new assessments in February 2025 and can schedule hearings to discuss them in March 2025.
New Toll Fee Scam Targets Rhode Islanders Amid Summer Travel Season
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is warning Rhode Islanders of a new toll fee scam, where fraudulent text messages claim recipients owe money to a state toll collection service. The messages create urgency by threatening a $50 late fee if payment is not made promptly. The BBB advises blocking and deleting these messages and recommends checking your balance directly on your local toll service's website.
