Police Issue Warning Over New Wave of Scams
Local Police Departments has reported a significant increase in scam activities, with perpetrators posing as reputable organizations to deceive residents.
These scams involve false claims about unpaid bills and potential awards, with scammers requesting payment via gift cards or digital payment services.
In some cases, scammers falsely inform victims about a relative's supposed legal troubles to extract bail money.
Local authorities are advising the community to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to law enforcement.
Rhode Island's Free Fishing Weekend Set for
May 4-5
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management has announced the dates for its annual Free Fishing Weekend on May 4-5, during which anglers can fish without a license in freshwater areas. Initially started in 1995, the initiative encourages public participation in freshwater fishing and highlights premier fishing locations within the state. Regular fishing regulations still apply, and activities such as the use of felt-soled boots are restricted to protect the environment.
Anglers who land a golden rainbow trout can also win a special pin by submitting a photo of their catch.
