FEMA Offers Critical Support to Renters Affected by Recent Floods

Residents of Washington County impacted by the floods of late 2023 and early 2024 can apply for FEMA Individual Assistance, which includes help for both renters and homeowners.
The assistance covers temporary housing costs and supports the replacement or repair of essential personal property and employment-related equipment.
Additionally, it aids with various uninsured or out-of-pocket expenses related to the floods, providing crucial support for those looking to recover and rebuild.

Airlines Required to Automatically Refund Passengers for Delays and Cancellations

The Department of Transportation unveiled new regulations requiring airlines to provide automatic refunds for canceled or significantly delayed flights and to clearly disclose all potential fees at the time of ticket purchase.
The rules, championed by Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, are designed to streamline the refund process and eliminate hidden costs, ensuring a more transparent and consumer-friendly air travel experience. These changes are part of a broader initiative to reduce unfair charges in the airline industry and are expected to significantly benefit consumers.
The new rules will take effect over the next two years.
