Lane Closures Continue on Newport Bridge, Adjacent Roads

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation continues road maintenance on the Pell Bridge, also know as the Newport Bridge, affecting several surrounding areas.
Lane closures on JT Connell Highway and alternating lanes on Halsey Street are expected to impact traffic, alongside electrical improvements on Van Zandt Avenue.
These efforts are part of ongoing improvements to enhance road safety and infrastructure reliability.

Community to Decide on Major Education Funding in Upcoming Referendum

On May 7th, South Kingstown residents will vote in a bond referendum to approve or reject a $150 million bond for building a new high school and athletic facility.
The investment seeks to update educational and sports infrastructures to better serve the community's needs.
Voters are encouraged to educate themselves on the pros and cons of the bond to make an informed decision.

Dispose of Unused Medications Safely on National Drug Take-Back Day

On April 27, from 10 AM to 2 PM, the Rhode Island Department of Behavioral Healthcare teams up with local police to host National Drug Take-Back Day.
Residents can bring their expired or unused medications to the South Kingstown or Narragansett Police Stations for free, anonymous disposal.
This event helps prevent medication misuse and environmental damage

Wakefield Concert Band to Premiere New Local Composition at Spring Concert

On April 29th at 7 PM, the Wakefield Concert Band will perform its Spring Concert at South Kingstown High School Auditorium. The concert will feature Dennis Costa playing "Classical Gas" and the first performance of "The Rhode Island March" by local composer Benjamin Nacar, celebrating both local talent and new music contributions.
