Water Division Announces Semi-Annual Hydrant Flushing in South Kingstown

Hydrant flushing is scheduled in the South Shore and Middlebridge areas of South Kingstown from April 15 to April 19, 2024, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Residents may experience rusty water and lower water pressure during this time. The procedure is conducted semi-annually to remove sediment and check hydrant operation.

Rhode Island's Trout Season Opens April 13 with 60,000 Fish Stocked

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management has prepared for the Opening Day of trout season on April 13 by stocking over 100 freshwater locations with 60,000 trout.
Fishing in these waters is prohibited until Opening Day. Anglers who catch a golden rainbow trout by May 6 can receive a golden trout pin. The 2024-25 Freshwater Fishing Abstract provides all relevant rules and regulations.

Plant a Tree, Save Energy: Rhode Island's Free Tree Giveaway Opens April 12

Rhode Island's DEM, in partnership with various organizations, is giving away over 2,000 trees to residents this spring. The Energy-Saving Trees program, now in its eighth year, encourages strategic tree planting to save energy and reduce utility bills. Participants can choose from a variety of tree species and reserve one tree for pickup and one for direct mailing. The program aims to provide trees that are suitable for Rhode Island's climate and non-invasive.

TODAY - Forum to Address $150 Million School Bond in South Kingstown

The South Kingstown School Building Committee (SBC) has announced two community forums to discuss the proposed school building project and the associated $150 million bond referendum set for May 7, 2024. The forums aim to provide information and address questions from the community regarding the project's details and its implications.

Chris Spiegal, the SBC project manager, Phil Conte, a representative from SLAM/Studio JAED Architecture, and other SBC members will be present to offer insights and answer questions.
The first forum will take place on Thursday, April 11th, and the second on Saturday, April 20th, both running from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the South Kingstown High School Cafeteria, located at 215 Columbia Street.

The events are open to all South Kingstown residents, offering an opportunity for community members to engage with the project planners and gain a deeper understanding of the proposed school building initiative and the financial aspects of the bond referendum.
