South Kingstown Town Council to Hold Public Hearing on Traffic Regulation Amendments

The Town Council of South Kingstown has announced a public hearing scheduled for April 8, 2024, at 7:30 p.m., to be held in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.
The purpose of the hearing is to consider proposed amendments to the Town Code, specifically Chapter 10, which covers Motor Vehicles and Traffic.
One of the notable proposed changes is the addition of stop signs on Woodruff Avenue at the intersection with Silver Lake Avenue, requiring vehicles traveling in both directions to stop.

Lighthouse Inn Demolition Pushed to End of Week Amid Cleanup Efforts

The ongoing saga of the Lighthouse Inn's demolition has hit another snag, with the latest delay attributed to the need to clear insulation from the building's roof.
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management has reported that the cleanup is nearly complete, with 75 percent of the work done. Consequently, the start of the demolition has been pushed back, with current projections indicating it will begin either Thursday or Friday.

Young Boaters to Learn Safety Skills in Free DEM Class

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is providing a free boating safety class for youths aged 13 to 17 on May 18-19. Sponsored by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, the class will be held at DLE Station M in North Kingstown and will include both classroom instruction and hands-on learning.
Topics will range from boating registration and regulations to emergency communication and water rescues. The course is designed to equip Rhode Island's future boaters with the knowledge and skills necessary for safe boating, with successful participants receiving an RI Boating Safety Card. The importance of wearing life jackets to prevent drownings is also emphasized.

For more information about the course, interested parties can contact Officer Esposito at 401-222-1982 or [email protected]
