South Kingstown and Narragansett Receive Grants for Public Safety Infrastructure

South Kingstown and Narragansett are among nine Rhode Island communities awarded grants to enhance public safety infrastructure. South Kingstown received $1 million to build a new Perryville Emergency Medical Services Station, while Narragansett was awarded $952,950 for upgrades to its Fire-Emergency Medical Services Station on Point Judith Road.
These grants are part of a matching program funded by the federal American Rescue Plan Act, with a total allocation of $11 million.
Governor Dan McKee emphasized the importance of these investments in supporting the state's police, fire, and EMS units.

Lighthouse Inn Demolition in Narragansett Delayed Again Due to Insulation Discovery

The long-awaited demolition of the Lighthouse Inn in Narragansett has been postponed once more after insulation was found in the roof rafters. The building, which has become an eyesore and a subject of controversy, was scheduled to be demolished on Monday, but the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management now suggests that it might be delayed until Tuesday or Wednesday.
The discovery of Styrofoam insulation has necessitated additional preparation work.
Once the insulation is removed, the demolition of the five-acre property on Great Island Road can finally begin, opening discussions on future development plans for the waterfront land.

South Kingstown Police to Host Scam Prevention Seminar

The South Kingstown Police Department has organized a seminar on scam prevention scheduled for Thursday, April 4th, at the Maury Lonnntjens Memorial Library, Narragansett.
The event aims to inform participants, particularly seniors, about a wide range of scams including those related to computers, telephones, home repairs, utilities, social security, romance, and real estate.
Detectives will offer advice on how to quickly identify potential scams and what steps to take if one suspects they are a victim.
The seminar is designed to enhance the attendees' ability to protect their finances from fraudsters employing fear, confusion, and distraction techniques.
