RAMS

Men’s Basketball
In a disappointing outing for the University of Rhode Island, the Rams were defeated 84-61 by La Salle University. The Explorers' Khalil Brantley and Rokas Jocius dominated the game, contributing a combined 42 points, with La Salle shooting over 50 percent from the field and making 12 3-pointers.
The Rams, who have now lost four consecutive games, found themselves trailing by double digits early in the first half and were unable to close the gap.

The Men’s next game will be away against VCU on Wednesday, February 28th at 6:30 PM. This game will be on CBS Sports Network.

Women’s Basketball
In an exciting Atlantic 10 conference game, the University of Rhode Island's Rams nearly overcame a 12-point deficit in the final minutes but ultimately lost to Saint Joseph's University 72-67. Dee Dee Davis sparked the comeback with key plays, and Anaelle Dutat and Ines Debroise contributed crucial free throws to make it a close game. However, a missed 3-pointer in the closing seconds dashed the Rams' hopes of a tie.

The Women’s final home game will be against VCU on Wednesday, February 28th at 6 PM. This game will be streamed on ESPN+.

REBELS

Boy’s Basketball
The South Kingstown Rebels faced a tough defeat in their postseason game, losing 56-51 to the Broncos. This loss extends their losing streak to five games and brings their final season record to 12-10. Unfortunately, this defeat also marks the end of the Rebels' season, highlighting the challenge of converting regular season success into postseason wins.

Girls Basketball
The South Kingstown Rebels took an early lead in their Division I girls basketball preliminary-round tournament game against Westerly and managed to maintain it throughout the match. Despite a strong comeback attempt by Westerly in the final minutes, the Rebels' consistent performance, led by Celine Barbera's 18 points and a late 7-0 surge, ensured a 51-42 victory. The win sets up a quarterfinal matchup against top-seed North Kingstown for the Rebels.

Next up will be a quarter final playoff game against North Kingstown on Tuesday, February 27th at 7 PM at North Kingstown HS
