Emergency Crews Respond to Vehicle Rollover, Driver Safely Extracted in South Kingstown
On Tuesday morning, the Matunuck Fire Department responded to a rollover accident on Route 1 north in South Kingstown. Upon arrival, they found the driver trapped inside the overturned vehicle. The fire crew quickly extricated the driver. The incident highlights the prompt and effective response of the fire department in handling emergency situations.
Summer Jobs Available in Narragansett: Apply from February to March
The town of Narragansett announces its search for summer employees, covering a range of positions from May through August.
Applicants should demonstrate responsibility and maturity, with the application window open from February 1st to March 31st.
This initiative is key to bolstering the town's activities during the busy summer months and provides valuable employment opportunities for a broad spectrum of the community.
Westerly Community Credit Union Invests in Education with Teacher Grants
The Westerly Community Credit Union has allocated more than $9,000 in grants to 21 teachers, including Amber Horton Lambert and Tiffany Court from South Kingstown, for the 2023-2024 school year. The grants support creative and experiential educational projects, with a focus on innovation, skill development, community engagement, and student excellence. The application process for the 2024 Teacher Grant program will begin in July.
Winter Fishing Boost: DEM Stocks Ponds with Trout and Salmon
The DEM in Rhode Island is stocking 11 freshwater ponds, including Barbers Pond, South Kingstown, and Watchaug Pond, Charlestown, with Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout, and Sebago Salmon from January 17-19. Anglers 15 and older require a fishing license and a trout conservation stamp for certain activities.
The DEM emphasizes adherence to fishing regulations and advises caution against hypothermia during winter fishing.
