Matunuck Oyster Bar Celebrated in NYT’s Best American Dishes of 2023

The New York Times has acknowledged Matunuck Oyster Bar in South Kingstown for serving one of the top American dishes of 2023.
The celebrated dish is the littlenecks and chouriço appetizer, showcasing Rhode Island's renowned seafood and Portuguese influence.

Matunuck Oyster Bar has been previously lauded for its culinary excellence and sustainable practices.
Rhode Island's vibrant food scene is further highlighted by other nationally recognized eateries like Pasquale’s Pizzeria Napoletana (South Kingstown) and Crazy Burger Café & Juice Bar (Narragansett)

Rhode Island Housing Market Struggles Amid Low Inventory and High Interest Rates

The Rhode Island housing market is currently hindered by a combination of high interest rates and low inventory, as reported by the R.I. Association of Realtors.
While the median price for single-family homes has increased by 4.8% from last year to $438,000, the number of homes sold has decreased by 13.8%.
The state faces a challenge with its low ranking in new construction nationwide, contributing to the scarcity of available homes.
However, there's a slight improvement in housing inventory and optimism for the market in 2024, with the possibility of refinancing as an option for those concerned about high interest rates.

Rhode Island to Implement Wide-Ranging Laws in 2024, from Environment to Voting

Starting New Year's Day, Rhode Island will implement new laws across various sectors.
Environmentally, the state will ban plastic bags and certain mercury-containing lightbulbs.
In health care, Rhode Island rejoins the Nurse Licensure Compact and mandates coverage for PrEP and PEP medications.

Juneteenth becomes a state holiday, recognizing the end of slavery in the United States.
Housing regulations will restrict application fees charged by landlords and increase tenant deductibles.

The minimum wage is set to rise to $14, and voting rights are expanded for 16 and 17-year-olds.
