South Kingstown Council Stands Firm on Private Road Plowing Decision Amid Public Outcry

During a lengthy meeting, the South Kingstown Town Council faced considerable public backlash over its decision to discontinue plowing services on private roads.
Residents criticized the decision for negatively impacting those living on these roads and questioned the council's communication and decision-making process.

Council President Rory McEntee upheld the decision, emphasizing the council's commitment to fairness and equal treatment for all residents as key reasons.

RITBA Offers E-ZPass Fee Waiver Amid Washington Bridge Disruption

In a move to alleviate the impact of the Washington Bridge disruptions, RITBA has announced a waiver of the $10 E-ZPass transponder fee through January 5, 2024.
The authority is also extending its customer service hours on December 19 and December 21 to provide additional support.
This initiative aims to encourage the use of E-ZPass, which offers a reduced toll rate on RITBA bridges. Drivers without a transponder are charged a much higher toll, billed through the mail.
RITBA is facilitating the opening of E-ZPass accounts through various channels, including online services, phone support, AAA offices, and their own offices.

Jonnycake Center for Hope Brightens Holidays for South County Families

The Jonnycake Center for Hope is addressing the concerns of parents in South County who struggle to provide holiday gifts for their children. Around 500 kids are expected to receive help this year, continuing the center's history of supporting families during the holidays.
The center has set up a temporary store for toys and clothing, supported by donations from local businesses and organizations.
Arnold Lumber, in cooperation with the Wakefield Village Association, is contributing significantly to this effort.
