Health Alert: South Kingstown Takes Precaution, Shuts Down Dog Park

The South Kingstown dog park has been closed until further notice following recommendations from the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM).
This action is in response to a severe respiratory disease currently affecting dogs in several states.
The disease, more severe than usual respiratory infections found in dogs, is highly contagious and has resulted in fatalities.
The closure is part of the broader effort to protect the health of the canine population in the community.

Ahead of Schedule: I-195 West Bypass Lanes Open on Washington Bridge

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) has rapidly opened the bypass lanes on the I-195 West Washington Bridge, a move aimed at mitigating severe traffic congestion following the bridge's partial closure.

The expedited opening of these lanes, initially expected to take weeks, has eased the traffic flow but some ramps remain closed.
RIDOT continues to recommend alternative routes for affected commuters and is introducing a ferry service between Bristol and Providence to further alleviate transportation challenges.
The emergency repairs on the westbound side of the bridge, a vital conduit for daily traffic, underline the ongoing infrastructure concerns in the region.
