RIDOT Closes Westbound Side of Washington Bridge, Causing Traffic Troubles

Rhode Island's Department of Transportation had to abruptly shut down the westbound side of Providence's Washington Bridge after finding urgent safety issues. Extensive repairs are expected to take at least three months.
In the meantime, eastbound traffic will be reduced from four lanes to two so vehicles can still traverse the bridge in both directions during the repairs.
RIDOT advised drivers to follow posted detours, but the closure will cause delays.

Heated Debate Over High School Bond Reveals Tensions in South Kingstown Council

In a recent council meeting, South Kingstown's plan for a $150 million high school bond led to a heated exchange between Vice President Marran and resident O’Neill. O'Neill questioned the council's transparency and decision-making process, accusing them of deceit for including additional facilities in the bond.

Marran defended the council, emphasizing that the bond's scope and costs were clear and unchanged.
The altercation highlighted issues of respect and communication within the council's interactions with the public, sparking a debate on maintaining a respectful and transparent dialogue in local governance.
