Giving Tuesday

Fighting Hunger Together with the Rhode Island Community Food Bank

As the season of giving approaches, we're reaching out to our community for a collective effort to support the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
Our goal is ambitious but attainable: we hope to raise $1,000 to aid in their crucial work.

The Food Bank is a cornerstone in the struggle against hunger, providing sustenance to over 63,000 residents of our state each month through a robust network of 140 partner agencies, including food pantries and various programs that feed the young and vulnerable.

Our commitment to eliminating hunger is steadfast, and we invite you to stand with us.

A donation of any amount can help move us toward a future where no Rhode Islander faces the uncertainty of their next meal.

South Kingstown Police Department Receives Over Half a Million in Grants for Mental Health

In a significant boost to local mental health services, the South Kingstown Police Department has been selected for two notable federal grants. The department's commitment to addressing mental health and substance abuse within the community has garnered $400,000 from the Community Oriented Policing Services and an additional $255,000 from the Connect and Protect program, distinguishing it as one of the few nationwide to secure such competitive funding.

The grants will facilitate the creation of a behavioral health services hub and support the inclusion of clinicians in police crisis intervention teams. These developments aim to improve the department's response to the considerable number of service calls related to mental health and substance abuse issues.

For those facing challenges with substance abuse, including alcohol, or mental health concerns, know that support is within reach.
Reach out to the SAMHSA hotline at 1-800-662-4357 for confidential, complimentary assistance and guidance on treatment options and valuable resources.

Support Rhode Island Community Food Bank This Giving Tuesday

In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, an appeal is being made to the South Kingstown community to rally behind the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.

With the ambitious yet achievable goal of raising $1,000, the initiative seeks to bolster the Food Bank's efforts in tackling hunger across the state.

This nonprofit organization plays a crucial role in feeding more than 63,000 Rhode Islanders monthly, utilizing a broad network of 140 partner agencies, including food pantries and programs catering to the young and vulnerable.

The drive to eradicate hunger is more than a seasonal call to action; it's a commitment to ensuring that no one in our community is left uncertain about their next meal.

Contributions of any size are encouraged, as each donation moves us closer to a future where hunger is no longer a concern for our neighbors.
