Fighting Hunger Together with the Rhode Island Community Food Bank
As the season of giving approaches, we're reaching out to our community for a collective effort to support the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
Our goal is ambitious but attainable: we hope to raise $1,000 to aid in their crucial work.
The Food Bank is a cornerstone in the struggle against hunger, providing sustenance to over 63,000 residents of our state each month through a robust network of 140 partner agencies, including food pantries and various programs that feed the young and vulnerable.
Our commitment to eliminating hunger is steadfast, and we invite you to stand with us.
A donation of any amount can help move us toward a future where no Rhode Islander faces the uncertainty of their next meal.
Together, we can fortify our community and ensure that the pangs of hunger are met with the comfort of community care.
Thank You To

Mistaken Car Theft Report Leads to Wrongful Arrest and Potential Lawsuit in South Kingstown
Jonathan Garvey, 60, faces the possibility of suing South Kingstown following his wrongful detainment by police this summer.
Garvey, was mistakenly stopped and detained by police investigating a reported car theft.
The incident, which began at a yard sale and led to Garvey's unjust arrest, has resulted in his attorney, who is also his brother, demanding a $3 million settlement from the town for the emotional and physical distress caused.
Point Judith's Waters to Power Over 350,000 Homes with New Wind Farm
Rhode Island is undertaking a significant renewable energy project with the construction of a new offshore wind farm, expected to be 20 times larger than its first.
Located off Point Judith, the wind farm will consist of around 100 turbines generating 704 megawatts, enough to power more than 350,000 homes.
Governor Dan McKee's visit to the Quonset Business Park marked the beginning of the cable-laying process, a critical step in connecting the wind farm to the state’s power grid.
Managed by Orsted, the project is part of Rhode Island's commitment to a renewable energy future, with the turbines expected to be functional by late 2025.
Rhode Island's Surplus Slides to $98M, Signaling Tighter Fiscal Times Ahead
Rhode Island's state government is on course to finish the 2023-24 fiscal year with a $98 million surplus, a noticeable decline from the large surpluses of previous years, largely fueled by federal money and heightened tax income.
This forecast, based on recent spending and revenue updates, represents the smallest surplus since the pre-pandemic fiscal year of 2018-19.
The state budget has grown to about $14 billion, reflecting the influx of federal pandemic aid and increased state spending.
As Governor McKee prepares for the next budget cycle, fiscal discipline is advised, especially considering potential shortfalls and the cessation of FEMA reimbursements.
