Liberty Ceder
Nestled in West Kingston, Liberty Cedar has been a staple of Rhode Island's lumber and building materials industry for over 30 years. Originally opened in 1990 by Dave Goss, Joe Davies, and Peter Brockway, the business grew over the decades into a leading supplier for contractors and homeowners across New England.
When the original owners retired in 2020, veteran lumber executive Patti Heintzelman acquired Liberty Cedar, continuing its tradition of quality products and excellent service. With a wide selection of lumber, decking, millwork, and specialty building materials, Liberty Cedar has something for every project.
Beyond materials, Liberty Cedar provides professional estimating services for contractors and expert advice for DIYers. Their experienced staff helps solve problems and meet challenges to deliver for even the most discerning customers. With customers across Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Long Island, and metro New York, Liberty Cedar safely ships beautiful, high-quality lumber nationwide.
In addition to growing the business, Liberty Cedar gives back to its South Kingstown community through charitable donations, event sponsorships, and support for local organizations like the SK 300 Harvest Bonfire. As a small business with deep local roots, Liberty Cedar is invested in the area's success.
Upcoming plans include expanding their warehouse and fleet to increase inventory capacity and deliveries. Though Liberty Cedar has grown over the decades, their commitment to quality, service, and community remains unchanged.

Narragansett and Kingston Named Among Rhode Island's Most Hospitable Towns
The towns of Narragansett and Kingston have been lauded as two of the "7 Most Welcoming Towns in Rhode Island" by World Atlas, a testament to their charm, historical significance, and community spirit.
Narragansett, known for its fluctuating population due to tourism and its historic Towers, and Kingston, with a steady population enhanced by university students and a strong arts presence, have both been recognized as exceptionally welcoming towns in Rhode Island. Narragansett's Coast Guard House Restaurant and Point Judith Lighthouse are highlighted as must-see locations, while Kingston's Courthouse Center for the Arts and the Sons of Liberty Distillery's tasting room are noted for their contributions to the town's inviting atmosphere.
Local Towns Collaborate with American Red Cross for Community Shelter Training
South Kingstown, North Kingstown, and Narragansett Towns have teamed up with the American Red Cross to offer shelter training for community members.
This training aims to equip attendees with the skills to assist neighbors during disasters.
Participants will enhance their understanding of shelter operations and acquire hands-on experience, boosting their confidence in undertaking various shelter roles.
This valuable training also prepares them to volunteer with the Red Cross or local Emergency Management teams. Join us on November 18th, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Broad Rock Middle School. Lunch provided
