Free Updated COVID-19 Vaccination Initiative Unveiled by Rhode Island Health Department

The Rhode Island Department of Health announced the distribution of the revised COVID-19 vaccine through community clinics in the coming weeks.

Residents, depending on their age, can avail either the COVID-19 or the flu vaccine, or both.

These vaccines are free of charge, but an online appointment is mandatory.

The emphasis is on safeguarding older adults and those with health issues. Unlike a booster, the updated vaccine is suited for everyone, regardless of their previous vaccination status.

Available dates in South Kingstown is Monday November 6th and Wednesday November 8th.

Rhode Island's Green Drive: Cash Incentives to Boost Ebike Transition

Rhode Island, in its drive to reduce carbon footprints, is offering financial rebates to residents opting for electric bicycles or ebikes.

This initiative, launched last October, had its initial fund of $250,000 fully claimed by August, prompting the state to inject an additional $150,000.

The Office of Energy Resources has outlined specific criteria for rebate eligibility, with the rebate amount varying based on standard or income-qualified categories.

To avail of the rebate, residents must purchase an ebike, submit an application, and agree to own the ebike for at least one year.

Trick, Treat, and Caution: AAA Northeast's Road Safety Guide for Halloween

The allure of Halloween brings children out in droves, but it's coupled with significant risks. Between 2007 and 2021, 49 child fatalities occurred on Halloween, making it crucial for both pedestrians and drivers to be extra cautious.

AAA Northeast suggests ensuring visibility using flashlights and reflective materials, selecting quieter neighborhoods for trick-or-treating, always being in groups, and never assuming drivers see pedestrians.

For those behind the wheel, AAA Northeast emphasizes the importance of seat belts, avoiding shortcuts through neighborhoods, and strictly adhering to speed limits.

Additionally, the day after Halloween sees an increased pedestrian risk, prompting calls for sober driving or opting for rideshare services.

The talented Finley Carr was the star of the match, netting both goals for South Kingstown.

The team is now gearing up for their next playoff challenge against Mt. Hope, scheduled for 7PM on Friday November 3rd.
