South Kingstown Moves Forward with Rental Registration Ordinance Proposal.

South Kingstown's Town Council has unanimously endorsed a motion to notify the public about an upcoming hearing on proposed changes to the town's code.

The changes focus on introducing a rental registration ordinance, aiming to provide the town with insights into its rental housing landscape.

The proposed ordinance, set for discussion on Nov. 27, is designed to offer clarity on rental duration, nature, and quantity without delving into specifics like parking or occupancy.

However, the proposal has stirred debate among council members, with concerns about unintended repercussions for renters and the importance of understanding the housing composition emphasized.

"Resilience" Explored: South Kingstown Artists Offer Intimate Glimpses in Latest Exhibition.

The South County Art Association, South Kingstown, has unveiled an exhibition that seeks to explore the concept of resilience through various artistic mediums.

This All Media Open Juried III exhibition stands apart by coupling artworks with artists' personal narratives, revealing the depth of their inspirations. From the 185 artworks submitted, 95 were selected, representing a spectrum of artists from Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Beyond the physical space, the exhibit joins the association’s “Giving Art a Voice” online series, an initiative born during the pandemic.

Renowned artist and educator, Ben Anderson, played a pivotal role in curating this eclectic collection.

From Rhode Island to Global Waters: Enright to Speak on Ocean Health at URI

Rhode Island native Charlie Enright, famed for captaining the Ocean Race-winning 11th Hour Race Team, will deliver a lecture on Nov. 2 at the University of Rhode Island.

As part of the esteemed Charles and Marie Fish Lecture series, Enright will share his experiences from his titled journey “Six Months Across the Ocean,” highlighting insights on ocean health.

His team's 32,000 nautical mile race across four continents has reinforced their commitment to sustainability, especially concerning ocean health and the climate crisis.

Alongside Enright's insights, marine experts Victoria Fulfer and Martha McConnell will delve into global marine microplastic pollution research.
