Collision on Route 138 in Jamestown Results in Multiple Injuries
A collision involving two cars occurred on Route 138 in Jamestown on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, officers noted that one of the vehicles had crashed into the guard rail.
The driver of that car sustained several injuries. In total, four individuals were taken to the hospital, though their injuries are not life-threatening. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
Newport Pell Bridge Construction Causes Extended Traffic Delays
Morning travelers faced significant traffic delays due to ongoing construction on the Newport Pell Bridge.
The bridge has been restricted to a single lane, leading to long queues of vehicles. This change, which began over a week ago, affects both eastbound and westbound traffic starting from the old toll plaza and will be in effect around the clock for the coming six months.
The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority's executive director clarified that the intensive work on the median prevents any swift changes to the lane arrangements.
BBB Alert: Beware of Home Smart Device Scams When Searching for Phone Numbers
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) warns against using home smart devices like Google Home, Siri, and Alexa to find phone numbers due to scams.
Scammers create fake customer support numbers and push them to the top of search results.
As a result, people unknowingly call these fake numbers, thinking they're connecting with legitimate customer support.
To avoid scams, the BBB recommends manually searching for contact details on official business websites, avoiding fake ads, directly contacting companies through official channels, and using credit cards for payments as they offer more protection.
Rhode Island Ranks Ninth in U.S. Safety Ratings; Vermont Tops the List
Rhode Island ranks ninth in the U.S. for safety based on WalletHub data. The state performed well in several categories, including murders, assaults, and fatal injuries among others.
The top five safest states are Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, Utah, and Massachusetts. Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas ranked lowest.
