Enjoy a day and night filled with live music and entertainment, featured across three stages, and explore Main Street stores along with booths from local artisans.

Intoxicated Charlestown Man Surrenders After Tense Multi-Hour Standoff with Rhode Island Police

James Slier, 57, was arrested following a multi-hour standoff with police from various Rhode Island departments after his ex-girlfriend reported his violent, intoxicated behavior and self-harm threats with a gun.

After negotiators convinced him to surrender unarmed, he was charged with several domestic violence offenses and arraigned at the hospital, with bail set at $1,000 and a domestic no contact order issued.

URI and Brown University to Renew Rivalry with 41st Annual Governor’s Cup Showdown

This upcoming weekend heralds the renewal of an enduring intrastate football rivalry for the 41st time.

The University of Rhode Island and Brown University are set to clash in the annual Governor’s Cup. The event will take place at noon Saturday at the Richard Gouse Field, located within the Brown Stadium.

The tradition, celebrated and cherished by the state of Rhode Island, has seen numerous governors partake in the festivities. Governor Dan McKee expressed it being an honor to be among the many governors who have had the opportunity to participate in the past.

Since its inception in 1981, URI has been leading the series with a record of 21-19, ensuring an exciting and competitive match this weekend.
