Topgolf Debuts in Rhode Island with New Cranston Venue after Naming Controversy

Topgolf is set to unveil its Rhode Island facility this week after much-awaited anticipation.

The official opening will be marked with a ribbon-cutting event on Friday morning.

Visible from Interstate 295, the venue is situated on Sockanosset Cross Road in Cranston, close to the Garden City Center.

This establishment marks the debut of a Topgolf venue in the New England region.

Originally named Topgolf Providence, the venue’s name stirred debate due to its actual location. It was subsequently renamed to represent the state instead of a specific city.

Narragansett Police Launch Voluntary Camera Registration to Boost Crime Investigations

tThe Narragansett Police Department introduced the Camera Registration Program (CRP) where residents and businesses can voluntarily register their video surveillance system locations.

This helps officers identify nearby registered cameras when a crime occurs, potentially aiding investigations by using the video footage. Registration is free and doesn’t grant the police direct camera access. Personal details remain confidential unless mandated by court orders.

Users can opt out at any time, and the system can provide useful evidence for investigations.

South Kingstown Police Nab Two for DUI in Separate Incidents

South Kingstown Police arrested two individuals for DUI over the weekend. Jacob Alden Jr., 20, was arrested for suspicion of DUI and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He crashed his car in the woods but was uninjured.

On a separate occasion, Jon Phillips, 52, was arrested for DUI after being stopped for driving an unregistered car.
