Gift Card Scam Uncovered in South Kingstown, Two Arrested

South Kingstown police have arrested Quanbin Huang and Zhixiong Lu for allegedly participating in a gift card scam.
The suspects were apprehended after a CVS employee noticed suspicious activity.
The police seized over 2,700 potentially tampered gift cards, averting potential fraud estimated at nearly $1 million.
The men, who are also facing immigration charges, were released on bail.

Men’s Basketball
The University of Rhode Island Rams faced a tough loss against the Loyola Chicago Ramblers, with the game ending 77-67 in favor of the visitors. The Rams started strong but struggled to keep up in the second half, allowing the Ramblers to extend their lead and ultimately secure the win. Key plays from Brandon Weston and Zek Montgomery weren't enough to overcome Loyola Chicago's consistent performance.

The Men’s next game will be home against Richmond on Wednesday, February 21st at 7 PM. This game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Women’s Basketball
The Rhode Island Rams clinched a 61-49 win against Davidson College, thanks to a stellar third-quarter surge led by Sophie Phillips, Dee Dee Davis, and Mayé Touré. The Rams' dominance from the three-point line in the third quarter was crucial in establishing a commanding lead, which they maintained through the fourth quarter for a comfortable win.

The next Women’s game will be away against Saint Joseph’s on Saturday, February 24th at 2 PM. This game will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Rebels Boys Basketball next game will be away against Burrillville on Thursday, February 22nd at 7 PM

Girls Basketball

Next game will be a playoff “play-in” game against Westerly on Friday, February 23rd at 5 PM at Federico Gymnasium, Westerly
